Electric ComponentsThese electronic components enable only two wires to transmit every signal within an automobile. Thus, they allow many wires conventionally required for the respective signals to be replaced by a small number of buses (common transmission paths), substantially reducing the diameter and weight of harnesses. They can also reduce the number of connectors used, the size of electronic control units, and the number of connections to significantly improve reliability. ConnectorsA single automobile requires 50 to 100 connectors. Waterproof connectors, which support electronics in automobiles, must have a reduced size and weight and an improved waterproofness. Furukawa Electric has developed the proprietary waterproof structure including separate poles to further improve the sealing capability.
